Random observation time: I really don't post in this very often. A few times a month at best. I envy those who have the ability to write/post daily (or more than daily! x.X;). I just don't understand how they do it; writing something down like this takes a lot of thought for me...even a short blurb usually takes an hour or more to write. Maybe it's because I never go into the journal writing thing when I was a kid.. I guess it takes more discipline than I've got. Other than a rant-space, am I using it for anything? Specifically something worthwhile? Or should I even try? Hmmm....

Anyway, moving on. Holiday season musings follow.

Thanksgiving was much fun, as always. I think it maybe my favorite holiday - one of the few that actually mean anything to me, in any event. I should probably defend that statement. It's just that 'holidays' like New Year's, Labor Day, Halloween, X-mas, etc. seem to be completely un-related to what they're supposed to be celebrating. Don't even get me started on Easter and the like. Perhaps it's because I'm against organized religion in general, so days like those don't seem particularly holy to me?

But Thanksgiving is different, to me. It is a time when I get together with the people I actually consider to be my family (ignore that I'm not blood related to even a third of them...) and the gathering begins to mean something. No "did I remember to get something for everyone" exchange of obligated-to-give-gifts, no "whee, EXPLOSIVES!" pandemonium, not even any "let's remember those who died and honor them, despite the fact that I don't give a shit the rest of the year" false homage. Even the silly decorations mostly go by the wayside. Just a gathering of friends and family, exchange of good food, and good company. n__n

I think that's why I try to be low-key for birthday celebrations. To me, it is my one good excuse each year to request the gathering of all my good friends. Why mess it up with streamers and cake? Not everyone will be able to come this year, tho. Julie, your timing on moving across the country was diabolical! ;_; Nonetheless, I'm looking forward to it.

And on an unrelated note, I finally finished watching Boogiepop Phantom the other day. 'tis a strange series; it tries very hard to be deep. Ends up not quite making sense. Very pretty, in a way. I think Boogie Pop would be a really fun costume to make - I love the shoes...perhaps less fun to wear, tho. =^\

Does anyone know the names of any of the soundtrack of Super Mario Bros 3? It seems like they should have names, and while I know most of the themes, I've never heard it named. O.o
