Media: ink on paper, shaded and cleaned up in PS LE
Notes: So I found a better way to do speech bubbles while doing this. a) make the general shape of the talky balloon using the circle and polygon select tools. b) under edit, fill white c) under edit, stroke 3 pixels. Next experiment will be with whether the stroke function inside, outside and centered on my selection makes a difference. Whee...

Um. The challenge was to comic blog something that happened in the last 3 weeks. My life is boring, so this is the best I could come up with other than talking about work, or drawing. SO. I'm happier with this panel-less comic format, but my style is still all over the place with this, and barber-lady appears to be missing a finger. Oops. Hands aren't my strong point.

panel 1: At work. Not nearly hectic or cluttered enough. But you get the idea.

panel 2: deer in the headlights, much? Yes, the tiny little oriental lady that cut my hair really was that short. ...and had awesome jade bracelets. <3

panel 3: FEAR the polka-dots of DOOM. Actually probably best panel...but the hands took a lot of post production editing since I drew them backwards the 1st time. >.>;

panel 4: Yes, I do look like that...I'm like a really really tall gnome. Shhh...

Next weeks challenge....draw a non-original character other than one you designed from a written description. This can be from a book, someone else's description, or whatever, but you can not draw someone else's design of the character. For example, you can draw Bilbo from The Hobbit, but he can't look like the Bilbo from the animated movie, and he has to match the description from the book. You could also draw someone's DnD character, or whatever, but for example I can not draw Edith since I designed her.

I thought we talked about your last post in person. I talked to so many people about it I guess I spliced you in there. I will comment on it this weekend.

This one looks great. The only comments I have are, I would have made the polka dots tear drops, to convey emotion, and the last panel looks empty. The only other panel you have with no back ground is the hair cut one and that one has the hair cut lady who fills the space. So you needed something in the last panel to fill it up. Perhaps a chibi Ronia. That way even readers who don’t know the character can get an idea of what she looks like.

But it flows wonderfully! The story is told cleanly and the dialogue fits. I am in awe.

I am going to be late again this week. Some people dragged me off and got me in DM mode so I have been doing that instead.

Rinoa's pretty, but I don't like her. I think she's whiney. And one of the styles the barber was trying to sell me on did look just like her. XD No offense. n_n;

I'm insecure about my art. Also, I fear art theft.

LOL, Luna said nothing about your taste in heroines in her post.

If you fear the art theft. When you finish a piece, before you post it on DA, write your name across the digital copy. Fade the text so you can see the art through it, and you are good to go. That way if any one does take it you will still be credited.

As usual, love your faces, especially the Mouth of Sadness in panel 3. But you aren't doing yourself justice, since you're really quite pretty.

The back of the haircutter looks as though it was drawn by Lea Hernandez. I have no explanation for this.

Are you using preset tones for the dots in panel three?

Panel 4: It's a very minor point (see what you reduce me to!) but maybe you could lighten or eliminate the shading directly under your nose? It's one of those persykological things: people have, but don't *see* that shadow; they do notice the one under the bottom lip, especially in females. So adding the nose- shadow in a cartoon, which is stylized in a way that more reflects mental imagery anyway, gives the illusion of either a deeply recessed lip or a mustache.

No point so minor I can't natter....

Also: AAAAAGH YOU CUT YOUR HAIR? My...my deepest sympathies. You know how I feel about Hair. Have you noticed any reduction in your superpowers?

Also, who the heck is ot-atma? I can only assume they hit my blog following yours, but...I don't know them! Are they reading my comics,too? My god, are they *watching* me?

I'm always torn between what I think I look like, and trying to feminine-ize drawings of myself. I don't LIKE self portraits unless they're ubber realistic.

Not preset tones, a random art filter I messed around with until it didn't look stupid that I found in photoshop LE.

Rinoa is the love interest and the person the plot surrounds in final fantasy 8. See Luna_lena's icon for what she looks like. I hate her, she's a whiny, self-centered brat (which is what the plot needs, but still).

*makes notes about shadows under nose*

...and yes, haircut. Like...18 inches cut off. I use a LOT less conditioner now. XD;; I do miss having lots of hair, but it makes it easier to headbang now.**
